History of the Bank Block Building

Located in the heart of the Heber Valley- on the corner of Main Street and Center Street- sits the beautiful Bank Block Building.

Built in 1904 by a local merchant, Abram Hatch, it was originally designed to house Heber Valley’s first bank. The sandstone was cut from the Lake Creek Quarry in east Heber.

Over the years, this and the connected building on the south side has housed the local high school, a drug store, a library, and countless professional offices.

This historic building has withstood 2 different fires, one in 1937 and the other in 1972.

In the year 2000, the building was renovated in a way that honored the history of this old building. The original bank vault is preserved, and so is the original sandstone.

Today it stands as a historic reminder of Heber Valley’s past and stands tall for future generations. You can feel the history when you walk into this building, and having an office in the Bank Block Building literally makes you a part of that rich history.
